Environmental issues/research

Environmental research is carried out in Iceland to a great extent, both on domestic and international issues.

Environmental problems in Iceland include land Desertification/erosion and the impact on landscape of tourism and energy production (hydroelectric and geothermal). There is also an ongoing discussion on how to manage the fishing industry in order to create sustainable fisheries. See our view on Iceland’s fishing management policy for more information.

We intend to provide a regular feature about interesting environmental research that is being carried out in Iceland. Click here to see the current feature.
