Did you know that the Earth consists of 70% water, although only 2.5 % of this is freshwater and only 0.27% is suitable for drinking?
And that people in rich countries use 10 times more water than people in poor countries?
And that if you take a shower, you use one-third of the water you use if you take a bath?
Water is a precious resource that is essential for our health and well-being. But in some places water is in short supply, so we should be careful how we use it. Even if you live in a country where water is not a problem, you should still be careful how you use it. Try to develop good habits, like when brushing your teeth, as one day you may end up living in a country where water is scarce.
Unfortunately, agricultural chemicals often make their way into rivers and lakes, and these can cause all sorts of problems for the creatures living in them. Detergents can also cause problems if they contain chemicals that do not break down easily.
Do you use water wisely?
